  • The exterior was redone for 1961
  • The first 'Vette without heavy "teeth" in the grill
  • Rearend completely restyled with four taillights
  • Interior space was increased by a reduction in the transmission tunnel by 20%
  • First year in which side mounted radiator expansion tanks were used
  • Standard equipment now included windshield washers, courtesy lights, sun shades, temp-controlled radiator fans, and parking brake warning lights
  • The base 230hp engines had painted steel valve covers and all optional engines had seven-fin cast alloy valve covers
  • Exhausts exited below the body on '61's
  • Door sills were now designed as one piece instead of two
